Poly Students Host Global Affairs Conference

Students from Poly High School's Model United Nations club

The Model United Nations (MUN) club at Poly High School recently hosted its second annual Bunny MUN conference, designed to introduce local middle school students to Model UN programming.

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an “academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real-world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country.”

The simulation is typically held during a conference organized by educational groups across the world. Any school can create a Model UN team and organize a Model UN conference.

At Poly, the Bunny MUN conference replicated a real Model UN conference with a focus on providing middle school students with a comfortable introductory experience.

The participating Long Beach Unified School District students enriched their global affairs knowledge through exercises that practiced their public speaking, critical thinking and in-depth research skills.

Poly’s Bunny MUN conference debated topics related to artificial intelligence, space and child labor laws. Several students from Poly’s MUN club were onsite to lead the conference and assist the middle school attendees.
